Custom-made furnishings for a house in San Polo, Venice

This project concerned the library and the kitchen of a private house. The library is of double height, employing a typology quite frequent in both public and private libraries; this allows ideal use of all available volumetry.

The project elaborated typical traditional details, such as the grated screening, with other, decidedly more modern solutions such as the metallic parts of the parapets. Access to the upper floor is achieved thanks to a staircase, with carefully profiled steps that adapt to the irregularity of the masonry and reduce to a minimum the fatigue of the climb.

All of the wooden parts are made of natural European cherry wood, water varnished with certified non-toxic finishing. The same material has been used for the creation of the kitchen, where the warmth of a natural material is combined with the coolness and shine of the Inox finishing of the technical elements and counter.

The surface of the furniture is flat, without elaboration. The doors are characterized by their natural wood texture. Nothing disturbs the surface; the handles, too, have been created by cutting in the solid wood.
